Dennis vanEngelsdorp: a plea for bees
Bees are dying in droves. Why? Leading apiarist Dennis vanEngelsdorp looks at the gentle, misunderstood creature's important place in nature and the mystery behind its alarming disappearance.
The Honey Emporium is a scheme that seeks to respond to the primary title of the project,Leeds City beautiful. The main aim of the project is to establish several Honey bee colonies though out the town district of city.Honey bees are know for their honey, however they are crucial component of the natural world’s ecosystem, as they are plant pollinators. The more flowers polluted in the city the more diverse they become, and it seems fitting to say the morebeautiful the city becomes. However the project at it’s heart seeks to respond to the increasing decline of honey bee (Apis mellifera) populations not only in the UK but world wide. The decline in the population has been blamed on several circumstances, one being the lack of biodiversity in farmlands, is sawn; Pesticides and fertilisers are also to blame; Coupled with the prevalence of mites (parasites that attack bees). All these circumstances have lead to the decline of the bee population, the phenomena has given the name C.C.D (colony collapse disorder). Last year the UK
government invested 10 million pounds for research in the decline of bees.

Urban design strategy foraging zones with in Leeds.

Establishing honeybee colonies is a solution. In New York urban beekeeping is illegal, however an underground scene is flourishing. Paris, Chicago and London where beekeeping is legal are perhaps very successful test beds of urban reported as being the best in the country in annual honey competitions. There are several reasons why bees are successful in cities, one being cities are warmer than the surrounding hinterlands and farmlands, as bees are very much affected by colder temperature especially in winter. Parks and green pockets in the city provide a variety of plants for bees to forage. They are typically less in stressed by fertilisers and pesticides in cityparks and plantings. This perhaps is where The Honey Emporium Comes in.

Render exersice.
not very good or convinsincing i think.
quick render seems it effectivly capturer the mode of the place.
too cartoony i think
Heath robinson's Honey Emporiam. sounds almost right.
my attempt on tech, still horrible i think comparing to other people's. too much.
contruction sequence ok but could be better

fresh extracts from the 3d model.
